Apple Earth

I was pretty ticked off when I wrote this song. Years of abuse from the same evil source finally forced me into not giving in to its need for power consumption. I was on the highest peak of my crossroads. As I looked down from the mountain I had placed in my path, I finally realized that it is my path and this mountain is my mountain. I looked way down below me from my mountain top, hardly able to see the earth, and realized that my life was down there while I was up here. What if I jump? I thought to myself.

I cannot die. I am immortal and this place is hell. Though many view hell as a fiery pit somewhere south, that is only the physical body. My mind was walking a path upwards, all the while laboring to build this mountain to trudge up. While my body was far below me in hell, and growing further from me exponentially, I was trying to escape what cannot be escaped by putting oneself asunder. To fragment any parts of our self is the greatest sin of all, for sin can only be judged by one person, our self. When we die, our God will not judge us, but we will judge ourselves and God will only tell us the truth.

Everything you do while on earth is known to you as good or bad. No matter how many layers you put between you and yourself, it is still you who started layering your self estrangement. You might not know what you do if you lose your mind because its walking your path high above you on your mountain top of insanity, but it is still your fault and no one else’s. If your spirit is strong enough, it will eventually call your mind enough to come home.

While your helpless body is being abused and your homeless mind is wondering and slaving away to dig rocks to pile up, your body feels like it’s just your funny worm, rotten in the core of the apple earth.

Originator

Originator was made in October 2009 in 45 minutes. DJKonasty made a beat then sent me an email asking if I could come up with a Halloween song for a contest using the beat. I had one day to make it in time for the contest.

When I heard the beat for the first time, it was magic. The song formed inside my mind within seconds, and I did not even listen to it in its entirety, but instead hooked up my guitar.

Within 45 minutes I had wrote and recorded 2 separate guitar parts and 2 separate vocal parts. After another hour of mixing, I emailed the song to DJKonasty who put the final mastering and tweaking to it.

The final product became known as Originator, a true testament to what the culmination of a lifetime of beliefs mixed with the aroma of the nearing Halloween with produce.

Originator was included as a bonus song on the 2009 pre-release of Pain Bred Hunger, my debut album as Zaddick, which gave that version 14 tracks, instead of the planned 13. Less than 40 copies were made and they were all hand signed, serial numbered and given to friends. Originator eventually replaced Myth on the final cut of the album released on 05.15.2010.
